A horror favourite of the 80s, "Maniac Cop," is the example of B-movie perfection with writer Larry Cohen teaming up video nasty director William Lustig plus Bruce Campbell & Robert Z'Dar in opposing roles. A horror mystery that captured the broken down parts & sleazy nights of the city that fully takes advantage of the physique of Matt Cordell (Z'Dar) as he's mostly seen in the shadows making him even more of an imposing figure & antagonist. A brute force snapping necks & throwing victims with ease. Cordell isn't just a horror slasher, as the story gives him life with his backstory & almost made him a sympathetic villain who got twisted up by his own vengeance. "Maniac Cop" capitalises on the perception from public trust & fear of the boys in blue.
