But it is still applied today. The first session that a crowd of graduates standing in the rain is very impressive. Graduation means a new life but the new life may not be better. Things get stranger when the main character learns that his mother is going insane, by the end you have no idea who's the insane person, whether it's mom or dad, or the son.
