Bilge Ebiri Spirituality & Health Perhaps the biggest selling point of Mantra is that it looks and sounds fantastic. It offers a wealth of footage of performers who deserve to be better known- from Mirabai Ceiba to Krishna Das to MC Yogi. Mona Totally ignorant approach to Mantra. Judging by this presentation, they don't even know what Mantra is. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review Audience Member A glossy very American-focused white person's introduction to chanting and Kirtan. The document doesn't explain the meaning or purpose of any of the mantras. It simply outlines how nice it is for (American) people to let go of their judgement and sing in a group even though they have no idea what they are singing about. All of the information we receive about mantras are from a white man who even says "my understanding is that [this is about xyz]", instead of explaining what these are from the source. This is like a trailer for a more indepth course. It is like just a preface to an introduction to mantra and chanting. Or, if they weren't going to treat this as being about Mantras, then it should have been called "The Western Revival of Mantra" so that we know this is what it's really about.
