Audience Member Long Live "The King Miyaan Maqbool" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Much rougher around the edges than his later Shakespearean films, Maqbool still showed early signs of Vishal Bhardwaj's eye for adaptation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member The story is very great! Based on the Macbeth Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Whatever shortcomings it had, were over-shadowed by its poignancy. It is a modern-day masterpiece of gangster sagas. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member 'Maqbool' quiet easily and crisply makes ways as Vishal Bharadwaj's best work. He effectively mixes the Martin Scorsese-style cinematic sophistication, and Anurag Kashyap sensibilities to conjure a magically redefining Mumbai saga which uplifts in each measure and rattles even the softest of the spots with its uncomfortable play of blood and delicious non vegetarianism of tonality. But it primarily works because Pankaj Kapoor and Irrfan Khan deliver consistently and punch from best-to-beat. Aside from the minor quibbles of the second half, there's nothing less than entertaining about 'Maqbool', and eventually nothing makes it worth missing too. This adaptation of Macbeth shall endear you with its dangerous and fine earnestness. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Pankaj Kapur's version of Marlon Brando's iconic performance in Godfather can be a little distracting. Other than that, this movie is a must watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Derek Elley Variety The film demands a good knowledge of the original play to work, though the running time never drags. Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Ahead was something fresh, urgent, new. Aug 17, 2021 Full Review Anupama Chopra Film Companion Beautifully written with wonderful music and certain scenes which are unforgettable. May 18, 2020 Full Review Peter Brunette Screen International Ultimately more Double Indemnity, The Postman Always Rings Twice, and Body Heat than Shakespearean, this rambunctious film borrows the playwright's characters while tarting them up in the most deliciously lurid melodramatic clothes... Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Hindustan Times Staff Hindustan Times Maqbool does justice to the play's essence. Bhardwaj has 'adapted' the play in the true sense of the word, without making it ludicrous in the Indian scenario. Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Dipankar Sarkar Vague Visages Maqbool leaves the audience with that extraordinary feeling only a few Hindi films have the ability to achieve – it’s both profoundly satisfying and artistically existential.
