What to Know

Critics Consensus

Serving up Timothée Chalamet at his most infectiously charismatic, Marty Supreme is a propulsive epic that realizes its sky-high aspirations even while it critiques its indelible hero's toxic ambition.

Audience Says

A gripping odyssey about a nobody who wants to be somebody, Marty Supreme unfolds like a game of table tennis: explosive, unpredictable, and defined by agile movements executed with both passion and precision.

The movies can be a wonderfully amoral medium, and I found myself liking Marty Mauser -- and not just liking him, but actually rooting for him to succeed. It takes more than a good actor to pull that off. It takes one of the greats. Go to Full Review

Continuously barreling toward disaster. Until it doesn’t. If only roller coasters were this exciting. Go to Full Review

Josh Safdie’s film commands your attention, and in casting Chalamet, one of the most talented actors of his generation who turns in an undeniably gung-ho performance, Marty Supreme earns it. Go to Full Review

Chalamet's performance is monumental, imbuing his character with both charisma and infamy in a constant, precarious balance. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Chalamet really gives his all in this role, but this is a frenetic, exasperating ride. Even though he's on screen for nearly the entire 2.5-hour runtime, we still don't learn much about Marty, and the female characters are even less developed. Go to Full Review

4h Very intense. A little long, but excellent performances and filming. See more 4h Amazing movie. Just go see it. See more 6h Good story, Acting was great went faster than I had assumed prior to viewing. See more 7h Great movie with a real story, real dialogue, real people. Its not a ping pong Rocky but a study of one young mans obsession and drive to accomplish his goal. Marty is one focused individual to the point of pushing others to the side while concentrating his efforts on himself. Funny, dark, good, bad, Marty will get there despite constantly unexpected situations arising, many of his own making. Sit back and enjoy. Mr. Wonderful also has a wonderful role. See more 8h Too long, too many story lines, no likable characters See more 13h Horribly graphic in every way possible, constant onslaught of bad events, no redeeming qualities besides the thrill of a jump scare in every single scene, one unfortunate event after another, that this very stupid narcissistic ping pong obsessed criminal brings on himself See more Read all reviews
