When Thor's evil brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), gains access to the unlimited power of the energy cube called the Tesseract, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), director of S.H.I.E.L.D., initiates a superhero recruitment effort to defeat the unprecedented threat to Earth. Downey's Stark/Iron Man steals the show because the actor is capable of making the tritest dialogue sound wonderfully witty, but the CGI effects are amazing and, despite its length, the film is very enjoyable.

(Road to Doomsday pt. 6) I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like to see The Avengers for the first time back in 2012. Marvel spent four years building up to it, and the fact that it actually came together is kind of crazy—especially since it turned out to be really good. The whole cast is great, everyone gets their moment, and that final battle is phenomenal. I don’t think it tops the original Iron Man, but it’s easily one of the best MCU movies.
