Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online The comedic timing, coupled with his ability to maintain the authenticity of the characters, is worthy of praise. The Avengers delivers a popcorn feast that's the perfect summer kickoff. Rated: B+ Sep 8, 2017 Full Review David Stratton At the Movies (Australia) Downey's Stark/Iron Man steals the show because the actor is capable of making the tritest dialogue sound wonderfully witty, but the CGI effects are amazing and, despite its length, the film is very enjoyable. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 7, 2015 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator This will be loved by genre fans, when all is said and done/ But at two hours forty, you may find it numbs your bum/ Seriously, more attention to character could have made it a lot more fun/ And now I have said all that, I believe my poem is done. Aug 24, 2014 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Seems like a miracle that something like this could be pulled off, fully amplifying and improving upon everything each solo MCU movie accomplished before it, while also standing on its own with the team dynamics. Rated: 5/5 Sep 24, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand You wouldn’t accuse 'The Avengers' of being good drama, but the sprawling, splashy spectacle and its much-much-much-larger-than-life heroes makes for a genuine comic book epic for the big screen. Jan 7, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review After four years’ worth of building piece by piece against mounting expectations, Marvel and Whedon have managed to satisfy the majority of fan expectations, and in some ways, even exceeded them. Gamerm0m I enjoyed this movie very much. I think that the character building in this was terrific. I have watched all of the MCU films but this one is one of the few I will watch again multiple time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/25 Full Review Manuel Quite possibly the best superhero movie of all time! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/25 Full Review Hughes S just amazing this movie is! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/28/22 Full Review Donavin D. The first superhero film to really attempt to create a cinematic universe, a playbook that other films and studios would try to recreate even today. It was one of the most exciting theater experiences of my young life and still an incredibly charming, visually beautiful and well written story that started off this new era in film. Bringing together earths mightiest heroes in a way that felt organic and had enough of a focus on each character is no small feat. Everyone played an important part in the story and had moment(s) to shine both in amazing action scenes and in some of the most quotable scenes in Marvel to this day. The story is well written and engaging if not terribly unfamiliar. We get Loki as the main villain who we have seen before in Thor but a bit more powered up this time around — this could have been boring if not for Tom Hiddleston’s masterful performance as the trickster god. While he is not a large physical threat on his own, his psychological and tactical abilities play to more interesting concepts. The action scenes are all well constructed and vary in tone — from the horror-like scene of escaping the Hulk to the triumphant team circle-up and every explosion in-between. This film is also visually impressive, with some beautiful shots like Iron Man falling out of space and back into earth, and Hulk’s mid-sentence transformation right into a fight scene. Marvel might struggle now to visually impress but they showed how much care and effort can be put into one of their films. Avengers is arguably the main reason why a lot of people jumped into Marvel films. A compelling story, an antagonist dripping with talent and charm and some of the most fun fighting scenes in all of Marvel film history. There is a reason Marvel was one of the only successful film franchises to launch a shared universe and it all started with the Avengers. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/25 Full Review Ahmad Edris S The hulk scene when he dumps on Loki and says "puny god" was so funny, but it was a good movie overall. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/08/25 Full Review Kalissa H Such a good movie. Looks very much like the early 2010s in style. Great opening scene. Special effects look good too.
