ashley h Meet Me in Las Vegas is an awesome movie. It is about a gambling rancher and a ballerina who discover that some people have luck at cards while others have luck at love in 1950s Las Vegas. Dan Dailey and Cyd Charisse give fantastic performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. Roy Rowland did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the humor and romance. Meet Me in Las Vegas is a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Overlong MGM musical starts out brightly then segues into talky sequences and uninspired musical numbers; many cameos and guest appearances, the best of which are Lena Horne's "If You Can Dream" and Frankie Laine's "Hell Hath No Fury." Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." Fun movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Dan Dailey and Cyd Charisse play a rancher and a ballerina who have a comic romance in this rather dull musical comedy. Cyd Charisse's dance numbers are really the only reason to watch this film. That or the many cameos in the film, including Frank Sinatra, Debbie Reynolds, and Peter Lorre, Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member "Meet Me in Las Vegas" is one of those neglected musicals that was produced in the 1950s after the heyday of the Hollywood musical. It's modest plot is saved from cliché by the personality of Dan Dailey and some tongue-in-cheek writing. The music is nothing special, but is engaging. The film was a showcase for Cyd Charisse's balletic talents, whch, good as they are, actually add little to the movie except to provide a motive for her to initially reject personal relationships in favor of her career. But overall, the film is enjoyable in its easy-going friendliness and its genuine location shooting. One would never know that the McCarthy era was in full swing in America and that some of Hollywood's most talented people had to work under pseudonyms, if at all.
