Talented cast is wasted as the movie is content with recycling jokes from its predecessor, Meet the Parents. Read critic reviews

      Movie Info

Now that Greg Focker is "in" with his soon-to-be in-laws, Jack and Dina Byrnes, it looks like smooth sailing for him and his fiancée, Pam. But that's before Pam's parents meet Greg's parents, the Fockers. The hyper-relaxed Fockers and the tightly-wound Byrneses are woefully mismatched from the start, and no matter how hard Greg and Pam try, there is just no bringing their families together. This all adds up to a disastrously funny time of getting to know you.

"Meet the Fockers" is an interesting follow-up to "Meet the Parents." Of course it's not nearly as good but it is still quite enjoyable. Several of the familiar conventions are used from the first film. Jack Byrnes's (Robert De Niro's) Circle of Trust is used again as the concept that he employs to either include or exclude his soon-to-be son-in-law Greg Focker (Ben Stiller), for example. In this sequel, the Byrnes family goes to Miami, Florida to meet Greg's parents, Bernie (Dustin Hoffman) and Roz (Barbra Streisand) Focker. They're a couple of free spirits and they really put uptight Jack's patience to work. Cute film.

As the title suggests -- this ain't highbrow entertainment. Nevertheless, it's passable.

Meet the Fockers is a very disappointing sequel that does not live up to the classic. I was hoping for some huge new hilarious comedy but I was sadly mistaken.

"Meet the Fockers" is crude and badly-written. I don't think I laughed one time. Alright, maybe once, but definitely not twice. That being said, there are a handful of likable performances, especially from Dustin Hoffman.
