Raf M @Utah91 Dec 31 Not a great film. Yes it does have an interesting subject matter and some tense scenes of urban warfare. Production quality is decent. Has a bunch of issues. The male protagonist is the worst actor in this movie. Who thought it was a good idea to have the protagonist be a catatonic mute for half the movie? Horrible. Lots of other actors in this where much better. The music is completely off its rocker. Tone deaf. There's a dubstep track during a sex scene. Why is there modern electronic music in this? Hilarious. Lots of time spent on sappy character setup to start the movie. Then like 12 characters get "last words while dying" scenes. Sheesh. We've all seen this. Marathon of gore and brutality to finish this out. War is hell. We know. Next time I'II just turn on Ashes & Diamonds or Enemy at the Gates, thanks. See more David P Aug 2 I found the movie confusing. I know the story of the Warsaw uprising very well, and the film captured the brutality very well. But, at times it was just surreal, and I found the plot confusing. I get the feeling that the script was at fault here. What I wondered about is how Warsaw is shown suddenly transformed from a city apparently in peacetime to a battlefield, and I don;t think that this was the case after nearly five years of occupation. The two lead characters seemed to be stuck with the worst faults of the script. The female lead, Zofia Wichłacz, seems to spend a lot of time being noisily hysterical. The male lead, Józef Pawłowski, is supposed to be catatonic for a while, and I really ask myself ho he could survive when stumbling around like a zombie. The film is very realistic in general, but those two are saddled with what I regard as a poor script. Overall? It could have been better, but it is certainly a new take on history, and well worth seeing. But be prepared for a gorefest. See more 10/09/2021 Too much love in this piece of war.
