Bruce Willis (DIE HARD franchise) and Megan Fox (TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN) lead a powerful cast including Emile Hirsch (ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD), Lukas Haas (INCEPTION), and Colson Baker (BIRD BOX) in this gritty and intense crime-thriller. While in Florida on another case, FBI agents Helter (Willis) and Lombardo (Fox) cross paths with state cop Crawford (Hirsch), who's investigating a string of female murders that appear to be related. Critics Consensus

Dull and predictable, Midnight in the Switchgrass squanders an evocative setting and some committed performances on a would-be thriller that rarely raises a sweat.

Leslie Felperin Guardian If there were still shops around where one could rent or buy videos or DVDs, this is the sort of movie you'd expect to see in the straight-to-retail bargain bin. Rated: 2/5 Aug 10, 2021 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Variety It's a functional piece of exploitation - an efficient little crime-porn snuff-thriller potboiler. It's like a fast-food meal that makes you think, "Okay, that wasn't good for me, but I got what I paid for." Jul 24, 2021 Full Review Nick Allen RogerEbert.com Midnight in the Switchgrass is the type of crime thriller that's so full of cliches that it becomes one big cliche itself. Rated: .5/4 Jul 23, 2021 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Amid the sea of crime movie cliches and bland dialogue are a number of performances that are as unconvincing as the story itself. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Ema Sasic Next Best Picture ... audiences are given one of the laziest, most drawn-out "climaxes" of the year. Rated: 3/10 Jun 21, 2022 Full Review Lynn Venhaus KTRS Radio (St. Louis) Despite [Emile] Hirsch's interesting portrayal, not much distinguishes this from a "Dateline" episode. Anthony Little slow at times and I was expecting to see Bruce Willis in a star roll but was less than impressed. It feels like he is in these past two movies to give them some credibility but he really doesn’t do much for the story line. Disappointing Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/26/21 Full Review Movie Lover The female actresses need to work on their acting skills! The movie could've been so much better if it also had better directing. It seemed like there were lots of lines missing or plot missing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/21 Full Review Todd Bad acting boring storyline with big names disappointed in Bruce Willis that he would even play such a thing Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/21 Full Review Randy C liked it but was disappointed Bruce Willis didn't have a bigger role!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/27/21 Full Review matzkeb Looks like a remake of a similar movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/24/21 Full Review William I This movie had a chance to be a good watch, but Bruce Willis seemed like he couldn’t have cared less about his role and was extremely dull. Megan Fox was horrible as well, her role was so unnecessary and predictable from the start. Emile Hirsch and Lucas Hass were robbed of good performances and what could Have been a great cat and mouse movie between a serial killer and a detective. Instead we got two actors nominated for Razzies, lazy direction, awful writing, and an obviously production crew that checked out with Willis. Someone should remake this movie and leave out Megan Fox’s character and let Hirsch and Hass get the chance to make this movie how it should’ve been done on the first place. The few critics that said Fox almost saved the movie should find new jobs due to incompetence and enjoying dull and a predictable movie from the start.
