David Jenkins Little White Lies Farmiga stands out in an otherwise rote and thrill-neutral tale of a psychic gumshoe. Rated: 2/5 Jul 24, 2014 Full Review Susan Wloszczyna RogerEbert.com It's as messy as a teen's bedroom and packed with all manner of distracting clutter that needlessly burdens a plot. Rated: 2/4 Jun 6, 2014 Full Review Ella Taylor Variety If only the movie didn't insist on constantly telling us what it has quite clearly shown. Jun 5, 2014 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X When it should blow our minds, Anna sinks back into the conventional, suggesting that either somebody involved high up the power ladder lost [their] nerve, or else the creative team had a lot of good notions but not the big one to tie the rest together. Rated: B- Jan 12, 2019 Full Review Nathan Bartlebaugh The Film Stage Instead of a silly throw-away schlocker, Anna turns out to be a modestly entertaining slice of B-movie entertainment. Rated: C+ Jun 6, 2016 Full Review Christopher Schobert The Playlist There is nothing particularly fresh about "Anna," from its script to its direction to its cast. Alexandre L Attention Spoilers. The protagonist does what she wants with the world around her. Yet another film with a weak plot that could have been made with neighborhood friends using an intermediary cell phone. Typical movie where the psychopath comes out cool and evil wins. It lacked an ending where the deceived character turns around and wins the psychopath but the director must have lacked budget or laziness. Waste of time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Eh, it was okay. I'm not quite sure what the ending accomplished, though... Maybe I missed the meaning there. I'm not understanding the purpose behind the finale. What purposes were served there? If that had been made clear, I might have given the film an extra half star. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member i thought this was good! i liked the cast & i liked the story; i thought it was executed well. would totally watch it again. but i love the whole memory/dream psychosis type stuff so maybe that's why. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Love Mark Strong. The problem is the script is a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces. Why did Anna set John up? Was John proven innocent? John's wife is shown with two children. Where are they? Did his wife kill herself and the children? Anna's situation is also unclear. A very unsatisfactory script. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Anna, seems too boring to watch, and ruins it's hopes at making a slight impression with audiences. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member While this movie had a lot of potential through its well set up series of manipulations, the dialogue and plot devices have a quality of brute force that is unnessecary. The acting is good for our two leads, but the problems around the ham-fisted execution of what could have been a good plot detract from what this movie could have been. Despite this, I would still recommend if you are interested in a plot with genuine twists and turns that keep you guessing through a good portion of the movie.
