Roxana Hadadi Pajiba Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears is a flirty, subversive return to the world of our favorite lady detective. Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times Though the special effects are something short of big-budget, it is charming withal, a TV B-picture with a modicum of sense, a little sex and as much suspense as many of us can presently handle. Mar 24, 2020 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian I saw this not as pinching pennies but as embracing the melodramatic. As I said, this is a movie where it's best to go with the flow... Mar 6, 2020 Full Review Stephen A. Russell The New Daily (Australia) Feeling like a regular episode stretched out with more cash to splash, it's saved by the sheer luminosity of Davis, owning Phryne's fabulous outfits Rated: 3/5 Aug 15, 2020 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz Fans will be delighted with the return of this "unpredictable whirlwind of a woman who never fails to brighten our lives". Theodore S My partner and I are avid fans of the three seasons of the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries (although we both found the changes made to the theme music in season 3 decidedly annoying). We eagerly looked forward to watching The Crypt of Tears, but I have to say we were disappointed. The Phryne that we knew was somewhat altered - her voice seemed different as well as the delivery of her lines, which seems absurd considering Essie Davis was merely reprising her role. Inspector Jack Robinson returned as the same character, but there was something a bit amiss with Miss Fisher. Also, I think it was a little TOO much Indiana Jones-ish for us. Perhaps Paris might have been a better setting. We were also disappointed that Dot, Hugh and the taxi boys only had brief cameos. Stop with the movies and continue the series. They really were quite splendid with a perfect balance of suspense, drama and humor. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Leah K I really fun, satisfying, nail-biting sequel to the show. Jack's and Phryne's relationship is explored further, the costumes take on a new and exciting scene, and the adventure is filled to the brim. All I can hope for is more! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Anne G Low budget, bad acting. Bears no relation to the series, what happened? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/11/23 Full Review Franchi J You probably have to be a Miss Fisher fan to really enjoy this, but for the fans it is like gold to have the characters back on screen. And for those who never watched the TV series, put down your computers and go and bing watch what you missed! The period costumes are astoundingly good and leave you surreptitiously searching out 1920's fashions in charity shops. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/02/23 Full Review Stephen L We finally got around to watching this film. We enjoyed the television series and had high hopes for the movie. We were not disappointed, a fun romp through the desert and over to England and back again. We were hoping for some more Aussie time and the crew there, but we were quite happy with it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Definitely a fun finish if you enjoyed the TV show. But also definitely even more over the top then the show was. Still a lot of fun but not necessarily as much rewatchability as the show. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
