Jed B think I maybe missed the point on this one. Just never feel like it brought it all together. Some fun ideas though Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review David W Mississippi Grind is well cast with two talented leads. It also does an excellent job of portraying gambling addiction. It's perhaps that latter fact, having spent time around undiagnosed gambling addicts, that makes this film personally uncomfortable to watch. It's heavy in that way. For that reason, I would only watch this again if there were nothing better to choose from. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Jem H Decent viewing, good story, sometimes seems to lose direction, but great cast. Enjoyed, would watch again. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/26/23 Full Review Craftnight 4 Dirty Trip ist leider eine Enttäuschung. 5,5/10 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/23 Full Review Joana N Joana here. Working my way through all the A24 movies. Not your typical gamblers movie, definitely new components: not as much violence, just feeling the intense, never-ending cycle of depression and addiction. For a moment I thought Ryan Reynolds was an alternate personality of Ben Mendelson, Fight Club vibes. Although Mississippi Grind failed to hold my attention during the whole film, and had a surprising (slightly cliche) happy ending (the result of gambling), the cast succeeded in the portraying the struggles of their characters. Joana gone. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review Josh E This story provides a great message and the ending made the movie worth it to me. David Stratton The Australian It's a terrific film, but it came and went in cinemas before many people could discover it. Nov 30, 2018 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire A loose, funky character study of two guys who can only frame their station as "can't win" and "can't lose," and can't really imagine a life that's anywhere in between. May 3, 2016 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian This one defies easy expectations, right up to its strange (in a good way) ending. The blues soundtrack is excellent, too.
