Christina Ricci is capable of carrying a lot, but even her talents are tested by this often Monstrous-ly dull horror movie.

Steve D Ricci does a fantastic job in this unsettling film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Craig B Monstrous is a brooding, creepy horror / thriller, helmed by the ever reliable Christina Ricci. May be a little slow for some but if you stick with it, especially given it is under 90 mins duration, it's a reasonable escape. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review Kashgar A A sad little movie. The best horror movies often are. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review KANGABOY Streetwear Glad I saw this one, you will be too Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review Margo M Acting was okay at best and the pacing was all over the place. The scares were underwhelming and the twists were extremely predictable. It felt as though multiple writers with conflicting ideas all addressed different parts of the movie. Feels like the movie is confused about what it's supposed to be. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/12/23 Full Review Valeria M Peccato, non convince, troppo manierismo, poca profondità e poco sentimento… Non esattamente l'ideale quando si affrontano temi emotivi. Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Once one figures out what is going on in this movie, it actually is interesting. Much more of a psychological thriller than an actual horror movie. May 21, 2022 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times For the most part this is a captivating mood piece, held together by Ricci’s take on a woman who is chasing an impossible idyll while being trailed by something dark and murky. May 15, 2022 Full Review Brent Simon AV Club An exercise in tedium which checks the barest boxes of “completed movie”... Rated: D- May 13, 2022 Full Review Nuha Hassan Nuha Hassan Monstrous loses its way in the second act and doesn’t bother to pick itself up again until the story comes to an end as Siverton chooses to focus on the central characters more than the monster. Sep 4, 2023 Full Review Sarah Vincent Cambridge Day The inertly told story piles on to Laura’s torments as if checking off a to-do list: a hostile landlady, a monotonous clerical job and an abusive ex. Rated: 1/4 Aug 16, 2023 Full Review Jessica Scott We Who Walk Here If you view movies as shock delivery systems, this isn’t the most successful example, but if you want a well-told story that makes you feel something, Monstrous delivers.
