      Critics Consensus

A low-key delight, Moscow, Belgium enlivens its fairly standard story with sharply drawn characters and an outstanding lead performance from Barbara Sarafian.

Jason N Loved this film. If you havn't watched it. I would say, - Go fo it. You won't be sorry. The content is fresh and warm. The film has a good ending, and that's important. If you like a family oriented Love Story, Then this is it for you. It's not too over the top nor does it fall flat. It's a good film. My rating is 9 out of 10. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I always review a movie right after I watch it but somehow I missed writing about this one. Here is what I remember a few years later. I loved the story and the characters. I enjoyed being part of a real life family with real life struggles. I recommend this film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A truly HILARIOUS budding love story! What it lacks in originality it makes up in the unconventional characters. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member some very funny phrases. Excellent performance from Barbara Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Life is messy, and "normal" is something everyone wants but rarely gets. No one knows that more than Matty, the main character of Moscow, Belgium (instead of the Belgian title -- Collision in Belgium -- which is way better). She's been living her life according to a 20-year-old dream and ends up unhappy because of it. The characters and situations are real and complicated, which make for a strong plot and a more convincing story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member An interesting take on the old romantic comedy formula, that follows the playbook fairly faithfully. But still, the idea of a younger man and an older woman as played by these actors made it work for this viewer. Both Matty (Barbara Sarafian) and Johnny (Jurgen Delnaet) are volatile characters and when these two collide (literally) sparks definitely fly. Matty's husband has been shacking up with his 22 year-old lover, but isn't willing to cut his ties to Matty. And Johnny is a recovering alcoholic who has been in trouble with the law in the past. Matty seems caught between a rock and a hard place and whenever she seems ready to choose which direction to move, complications arise. This viewer was deeply invested in seeing Matty find the happy life she once swore she would have. A solid supporting cast and a solid story helped but I credit the two main actors on a terrific performance. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
