      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

As excessive and ketchup laden as predecessors Suspiria and Inferno, Dario Argento's Mother of Tears completes the trilogy with the same baroque grandeur and soggy 1970s sensibilities.

John A Doesn't sit on the same mantel as films like Deep Red or Plumage but it is enjoyable and slick in an early Sam Raimi sort of way Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review lord b So far above the garbage hollywood puts out its like at a 80th floor penthouse. A plot linked to two other films the mothers trilogy which is awesome concept. Magic mystery and a plot u can't guess. Great acting. Cool camera scenes. Everything the low effort rich kids running hollywood don't bother with in the garbage they produce just to fill thier resume. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review marco b The third film in Argento's Three Mothers Trilogy (Suspiria and Inferno being the first two). In Rome, the Third Mother has awoken, and the World is sent into chaos, with witches occupying Rome and killing anyone who stands in their way. Poor directing, acting and special effects. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Though nostalgically warm the trilogy finale does not level up with its predecessors in terms of energy, plot and atmosphere. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member This is the final instalment of three movies beginning with Suspiria ( 1977). Not as strong as suspiria, where they really made an artful, trippy and strange movie without a ton of gore. Mother of tears goes well overboard with the gore at points but its almost cartoonish. A few good jump scares and tension. They casted several fashion model/actors which makes it more fun to watch. I recommend watch Suspiria first( the original, not the remake. more on than one later) .The soundtrack is by the keyboard player from Goblin ( the original soundtrack musicians from Suspiria)also interesting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review ryan s 3.5/5. Far superior to Inferno, but not as good as Suspiria. Mother of Tears has amazing gore and is a wild ride, but the CGI looks terrible and the movie is lacking the style of the previous films. Jones Chicago Reader Argento is admired for his voluptuous use of color and his operatic bloodletting; this is lovely to look at, if you can stand to. Dec 17, 2008 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row A goofy, bumbling effort without the basic decency to know how bad it is. Rated: .5/4 Jul 6, 2019 Full Review Donald J.
