The setup is intriguing, but Mr. Brooks overstuffs itself with twists and subplots, becoming more preposterous as it goes along.

The bad news: these twists and turns are so preposterous, or so irrelevant, that they undermine the movie they're meant to tart up. Apr 7, 2008 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Brooks is ultimately even scarier because his family life - or the facade behind which he hides - is so incredibly normal. Rated: 8/10 Nov 27, 2020 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News While Costner does his part, ultimately "Brooks" fails -- with a convoluted plot that seems more preposterous the more you think about it. Nov 21, 2019 Full Review Megan Basham WORLD However hellish Brooks' acts might be, we admire how coolly he executes them. So rather than wish jail or worse on Mr. Brooks, the audience joins him in reveling in how neatly he disposes of his victims. Hollywood is, after all, so good at what it does. Debra M I find it hard to believe that the audience rating is in the 70% range. My favorite genre is thriller/suspense movies, especially serial killers. This movie did not hold my interest, It was unrealistic and boring. Some say the twist and turns helped. I thought those were such minor additions, they did nothing for the movie to improve it in my view. Definitely would never watch this again. I watched it last night, and couldn't even remember the title of the movie, that is how little I enjoyed it. The script was very mediocre and sub par. Listen to the critics on this film and then subtract some more. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/24 Full Review thomas s The film is so unbelievable one wonders how anyone could follow it, much less enjoy it. My only enjoyment was when it finally ended. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Daniel B "Mr. Brooks" is a gripping psychological thriller that delves into the duality of human nature and the hidden darkness within. Kevin Costner delivers a compelling performance as Earl Brooks, a respected businessman who harbors a sinister alter ego, Marshall, portrayed with chilling intensity by William Hurt. The film masterfully explores the complexities of addiction and morality, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. Demi Moore adds depth to the narrative as Detective Tracy Atwood, whose pursuit of the elusive "Thumbprint Killer" adds a layer of tension and intrigue. Director Bruce A. Evans skillfully balances suspense and character development, creating a thought-provoking cinematic experience. "Mr. Brooks" is a must-watch for fans of the genre, offering a fresh perspective on the classic cat-and-mouse tale. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/05/24 Full Review Ray S Una historia diferente sobre asesinos seriales. Excelentes actuaciones. Vale la pena. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Joan C This movie is going to be a cult film, I agree that there are a lot of subplots... and I think it is really difficult to make all of this work together, and it does work together. I enjoyed a lot the couple of Costner-Hurt, what a complex acting should that be. Sometimes scary, other disgusting, other lovely, other like friends... I would love to see a couple more of this, prequel and sequel. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/27/24 Full Review Bruno V Filme implacável, com todas sátiras, suspense e delírios possíveis de um maniaco psicopata.
