What to Know

Critics Consensus

A genially mediocre sequel to its similarly middling predecessor, Murder Mystery 2 could have been much better… and a whole lot worse.

Audience Says

Murder Mystery 2 has a few laughs and might even be better than the first one, but all in all, that really isn't saying much.

Ding-dongs solving mysteries is a decent premise. But the house style of the movies is more celebrities-delivering-lines rather than its two leads committing to the camp of it all. Go to Full Review

The clues in ‘Murder Mystery 2’ are clever and inclusive, like the music at the ‘sangeet’ for a jolly travelogue pulled along smoothly on the rails of Aniston’s and Sandler’s considerable comic talent Go to Full Review

While Murder Mystery 2 might lack depth and a concrete theme to balance the narrative, Aniston and Sandler make it an undeniable delight worth watching. Go to Full Review

Sandler and Aniston have such a breezy chemistry that we wish that this entire series had the kind of smarts and creativity to be found in the Knives Out films and TV's The AfterParty Go to Full Review

Bar n Nov 10 i love adam sandler here but eh honestly its just like the first movie and it dont really get to me See more Abel B. @rad_reviews Nov 8 This one’s just a tad bit better than the first one now murder mystery wise, The first one is better because more characters and more harder to pinpoint who it is, but even though it’s name (mm2), it doesn’t have to be a great mystery. It gets the jobs done while being fun. Found some of the characters to be really funny. I didn’t like how how all the side characters who survived in the first one were in it because you knew they weren’t going to be the murderer and if they were that wouldn’t make sense I think if they brought them in, they should’ve at least killed one of them. See more Logan G. @SequelsArentAlwaysBad12 Nov 2 Murder Mystery 2 is still funny and has a lot of beautifully shot locations, but the story is very similar to the first one. See more ww11 w Aug 16 It was as entertaining as watching old people eat. See more Raina S Aug 3 In comparison to the first movie, I'd say that based on the general subjective state of the person at the moment, one might be better than the other for some while for some others the opposite. I myself enjoyed this one more. I laughed for most of the movie, as I saw that the friendly rom-com chemistry between the actors and their body language or words not only effected the viewer, but also the events to come. I totally recommend it and advise any film makers out there for more works like this. See more Alexander S Jul 9 Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston share a remarkable on-screen chemistry, making Murder Mystery 2 a pleasant watch for those who generally enjoy Sandler’s films, even the ones that fall short. It’s a simple comedic delight that doesn’t require excessive attention to detail or a desire for a more refined, golden-written script. Grading: C See more Read all reviews
