Jason Bailey Flavorwire This is a funny movie, with just enough edge to keep you off-balance. Nov 18, 2016 Full Review Scott Marks San Diego Reader First-time director Sophie Goodhart coaxes a grown-up performance out of Kroll, and Scott's smarmy contentiousness has never been put to better use. Rated: 3/5 Oct 5, 2016 Full Review Mark Dujsik RogerEbert.com My Blind Brother puts these characters through the comic wringer, but the humor is founded on the characters and their flaws, not the circumstances. Rated: 3/4 Sep 23, 2016 Full Review Matt Oakes Silver Screen Riot Nick Kroll sharpens his post-television presence as unambitious deadbeat Bill whose doomed purpose in life is to be a seeing-eye underdog for his egotistical handicapable brother Robbie. Rated: C+ Nov 5, 2018 Full Review Sean Mulvihill FanboyNation.com There's just something missing at the heart of My Blind Brother. It never coheres as intended on every comedic and dramatic level it aims for. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 1, 2018 Full Review Sarah Marrs Lainey Gossip My Blind Brother is a moderately sweet movie about terrible people. The awkwardness will make you wince, but it also hits on something true about the lengths we go to in the name of being nice. Oct 16, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

tom m A wee bit on the stupid side, but okay. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Screenplay is, like, fine. But the cast elevates it, and the final product is really sweet. The tone is just mumbly enough to highlight how opposite ideas of self-worth are interconnected, and how trying to grow can send you swinging between what you think you need and what you think you deserve. Could do with some more actual blind people involved in creating the movie's perspective. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Good watch, could watch again, and can recommend. Nick Krull, Adam Scott, and Jenny Slate carry this well together and are pretty funny. I'm torn on whether or not Scott's portrayal of a blind person is complimentary or insulting, but I'll have to wait until a blind person sees it to hear what they say. The "best friend's girl" trope is fun, and they definitely make this movie special, even for "blind movies", the idea of him being an over-achieving athlete is very unique. As funny as this movie can be, as much as a "romance" movie as this is, it is definitely a "bromance" movie first. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Fueled by its strong cast, My Blind Brother is perfectly enjoyable dramedy that seemingly doesn't have a lot to say...but maybe that's the point. Family and interpersonal drama isn't exclusive to "normal" families and "normal" people. My Blind Brother doesn't try to emphasize Adam Scott's character's disability to teach lessons (albeit on a couple occasions) but is simply a part of the narrative. Each of its main characters are funny, enjoyable to watch, and endearing. You'll see better dramedies, but this is a good one. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Actually one of the best romantic comedies ever. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/21 Full Review Audience Member Taking the romantic comedy and adding enough fresh nuances to make this movie a delight. The dialogue, the characters and the plot were all treated well and paced perfectly. Nothing dragged, and each moment felt genuine and perfectly allotted. My heart skipped a beat when I saw Zoe Kazan in the film, but she was not utilized enough for my taste. Otherwise, a fun movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
