A modern day "King Lear" that is essentially your basic soap about a family working in the field of organized crime. All of the usual mob romantism is left out and replased by extreme harshness and dark imagery. The overall grittiness works for a short while, but the film doesn't take off at all. The end result is a sadly tired and predictable story that even a reasonably good cast can't save.
