Stunning movie that shows the real Iran, how the ancient ways are still respected and observed, and the beauty of the timeless rituals performed by its people. An excellent movie for those who know next to nothing about the country and want to learn more without the influence of western politics. I was awed by the beauty of this culture. I was impressed by the respect shown to their religious beliefs. This movie was like a cool drink after a trek in a hot desert....

While the film primarily focuses on the Sufis, it is a fascinating insight into the diversity of Iran. Qom was absolutely stunning, as was Kashan. The rituals of the Zoroastrians & the Sufis were interesting, particularly to this humble Westerner. ;)

A good insight into an Iran we are not familiar with. Some protests from Iranians about issues of representation but notwithstanding a worthwhile film.

Documentarian Aryana Farshad seeks out the spiritual rituals that psychically (if not physically) connect her with sacred sites in Iran, her homeland, which she hasn't visited in 25 years. Farshad documents prayer at the Great Mosque of Qum and "whirling" dervishes in Kurdistan. Her search leads her to comment on the use of religion as a buffer between the commercial tug of Western culture and the dogmatic dictates of traditional Muslim society.
