Some of the Robins stuff is definitely the best part here, but the apparent "hey, that's just the way the cookie crumbles" ending seems off. Not to mention the overlong guessing game and the seemingly scattered Finney lead up to that ending. Perhaps that's the point. That for all our big heroic talk, most people are just too busy looking out for themselves. But again, it just seems like too many chefs had their hand in this pie. Even if this comes down to a single chef's many intentions. Brilliantly directed with Eastwood at the helm alongside an extremely talented cast. Genres of crime, drama and mystery are interwoven creating a suspenseful, dark, yet fascinating atmosphere. Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/25 Full Review Blu B A Classic Crime Drama. The music is good but not used much and not that catchy. But that's kind of a trademark of Eastwood films so it's expected. Everything else is really well done with really great direction by Eastwood. It's a great dive in how trauma from a childhood event can affect not just the one victim. This is very much a murder mystery police investigation on top of a character study of the lives of 3 kids grown up. It's got a very good twist, the characters are very layered, complex and sympatheitc, and it also is very complicated and complex. Meaning it's very jumpy at times following all the different events involved. To it's credit it's never incoherent but it's just A LOT. Because each one of the three has like 3 other supporting characters around them and it just gets a lot to follow. But you can't really cut any of them out. A testament to how well it's written.
