      Critics Consensus

A bit alarming at first, Nanny McPhee has a hard edge to counter Mary Poppins-style sweetness, but it still charms us and teaches some valuable lessons.

Riley L Elite movie. One of the defining films of a generation in my opinion! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Russell H Much better than I thought it would be. Not usually my cup of tea. Wife made me watch it and I admittedly enjoyed it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Trafalgar L Emma Thompson's adaptation of Christiana Brand's "Nurse Matilda" brings a wonderful family film with a powerful message and does it beautifully so with fairytale like elements. One of the best co-productions between Universal Pictures and StudioCanal since "Love Actually" Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Music Very sweet, cute, very fun movie and very heartwarming. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/01/23 Full Review Ed Alternate title: *Government Nanny*. Really enjoyed this and would even say it's on par with Marry Poppins, with less whimsical elements. However, that was fine in my opinion because she actually disciplines the children, while Marry Poppins just does magic for show. I'm confident that the children and father are changed for the better. My only gripe is that the marriage at the end was a little questionable (she so young!). Other than that, was a fun watch. The children's chaotic antics were fun to watch. I was hooked by the opening, "they ate the BABY!!" Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
