Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/27/23 Full Review Stephen C The greatest 1.2 hours ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/22 Full Review Audience Member Esse era um bom onde tem os filhos dos vingadores mundo totalmente dominado pelo Ultron e o homem de ferro cuidando das crianças pra q eles sejam as últimas salvação para salvar o mundo É um bom filme mas não tanto Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The last of the Marvel Animated Features I had yet to cover, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow isn't obnoxious or cringy despite what the premise would suggest. If anything, the writing is more mature than the dialogue a bunch of fully grown men would get in later Marvel cartoons (how telling that, Jeph Loeb's departure and Marvel Television's dissolution - I wouldn't hold my breath for a second season of M.O.D.O.K., which I have no desire to watch - aside, the most critically acclaimed piece of Marvel animation, possibly surpassing even Earth's Mightiest Heroes, was one that was developed by a different company and staff, rather than being developed in-house: Into the Spider-Verse...but holding these movies to that impossibly high standard is basically comparing apples to oranges). Honestly, it's just bland. It has a nice, more cartoony art style that'll appeal to kids, the voice acting is what you'd expect from child actors with some being annoyingly loud and others turning in better-than-expected line deliveries, Ultron is more menacing here than his MCU counterpart, if only because he doesn't quip all the time because Joss Whedon just couldn't help himself* and the children of Thor and Captain America & Black Widow (the ampersand is there for a reason, get your minds out of the gutter) go through decent character arcs. But the action is sparse, what little there is is not that great outside of seeing the Hulk do his thing in the climax, we don't really get to see how the world has gone to hell under Ultron's reign following the death of the Avengers, Giant-Man and Black Panther's sons are, respectively, grating and rather flat being a goody-two-shoes worry-wart who just happens to be able to put up a fight and honestly, it seems that the offspring's actions caused more harm than good. They're not designated heroes but the entire reason the plot happens is because their curiosity got the best of them, nearly leading an old Tony Stark to his death. I know that Heroes of Tomorrow has a bit of a fanbase but I just saw it as a simple way to keep superhero-loving children quiet for 75 minutes that deserves some credit for not being as immature or condescending as those terrible CGI Heroes United cartoons. The Marvel Animated Features weren't all underrated gems or misunderstood masterpieces but I feel bad for Lionsgate that mediocre critical reception and possibly sales that didn't live up to their expectations prevented this series from taking off. It honestly felt like it was growing up and developing with the Hulk films but by that point, even though Planet Hulk became arguably their best feature, the MCU became priority number 1 for Marvel Studios. It was a fun little experiment, though and I was kept satiated enough while I wait for Disney+ to finish releasing episodes of What If...? so that I can binge-watch them to my heart's content. *Still a good movie though. It did have to live up to the groundbreaking 2012 film and three critically acclaimed Marvel movies from the year prior, one of which was part of a different superhero franchise (i.e. not part of the MCU), as well as coming out barely a month after the MCU's beloved take on Daredevil, even before Netflix went global in 2016. So, unrealistic expectations meant that Age of Ultron was sadly cursed with hype. At least Phase 3 did a spectacular job dealing with its repercussions.
