Jean Yothers Orlando Sentinel [Bardot] makes for pretty scenery against the natural splendors of Spain's Malaga Region. Oct 8, 2021 Full Review Nora E. Taylor Christian Science Monitor If there is an ameliorant to the picture, it is the evocative Eastmancolor photography, which cries out for a substantial story to match its expertness. Ursula grew up on a convent due to being orphaned when her parents die. She is released from the convent to her aunt and uncle that are in the middle of a turmoil. A local baron feels the aunt and uncle are responsible for the death of his sister; meanwhile, the baron is sleeping with the aunt. Ursula is caught in the middle of a sick and twister love triangle. "Dirty old man!" Roger Vadim, director of Barbarella, Night Games, Surprise Party, The Hot Touch, Love on a Pillow, Blood and Roses, and Vice and Virtue, delivers The Night Heaven Fell. The storyline for this picture is intricate but just okay. The characters could have been better developed and the acting was good but not great. "How long have you loved her?" I recently came across this on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and had to DVR it. This was interesting and had some cool settings, attire, and characters, but the plot isn't developed or portrayed as well as it could have been. I wouldn't go too out of my way to see this. "I'll be fine for the fiesta." Grade: C Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review s r Better than other Bardot flicks since it was in Spain, but still falls short of the mark. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Brigitte Bardot couldn't really act in my humble opinion, but my god what a goddess she is. A true shame she had to get old (oh no, the sexism just got let out). BTW, you get to see her gazongas just about at the climax of the film. Roger Vadim lets the CinemaScope shower us with the splendor that is Spain. But little else is here unless you enjoy simple French films that like to showcase beautiful sex kittens, namely by the name of Bardot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was pretty good, Bardot's acting skills aren't stretched any, but she's good at what she's good at. The story is interesting, but could be better portrayed. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member So this was a very dull film. The plot was cliche and was over done even for it's time. Two people meet and fall in love, they realize they can never be together, blah blah. I can't think of a single reason to give to other people to watch this film. Those random moments where the director would have Bridge Bardot (who was married to her at the time also) walk around (and jump) in the skimpiest outfits was quite lame. It's as if he and the producers knew that the only way to get people to watch this flick is to have Bardot wearing close to nothing. Avoid this at all costs.
