Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting One of the best zombie films of all time. Mar 20, 2020 Full Review Eric Henderson Slant Magazine This minor cult classic has its fans, to be sure, but it never really pays off. Rated: 2/4 Feb 28, 2008 Full Review Almar Haflidason BBC.com Any laughter soon turns to screaming as the screen fills with calculated gory mayhem and some fine shock moments. Rated: 4/5 Jul 24, 2001 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy It may not attract the ink usually accorded Night of the Living Dead or 28 Days Later or even Hammer’s The Plague of the Zombies, but here’s a zombie yarn that deserves a far greater reputation. Rated: 3/4 Jun 12, 2022 Full Review Chris Alexander Alexander On Film This isn't the quasi- realist American horror of Romero and it isn't the chunky, in your face zombie opera shock of Fulci. This is the zombie film as dark, lyrical, melancholy fairy tale, a film that exists in a class of its own. Jun 9, 2020 Full Review Kyle Anderson Nerdist While it's not nearly as bombastic or carnage-filled as some zombie flicks, The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue manages to be both scary and relevant. Will G One of my favourite movies. Off beat, strange yes and not as commercial as other dead coming back to life offerings. I own 2 DVDs of it, in case I wear one out.... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Horror fan 4 What a great zombie movie. Great special effects, terrific acting and writing. Definitely at top 5 Zombie movie. Tim Treakle Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/24 Full Review Matt R THE LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE (1974) aka LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE aka DON'T OPEN THE WINDOW aka BREAKFAST AT MANCHESTER MORGUE or any of the other titles that were used for this movie don't begin to describe this disturbing, gory, and captivating zombie film. George (Ray Lovelock) wants to get away from the pollution and noise of London and gets bumped into by Edna (Cristina Galbo') so they end up traveling into the countryside together. No voodoo here in the British countryside though. There is new agricultural technology being tested out to control pests that has unintended consequences on the recently born and undead. Between a semi-fascist police inspector, environmental concerns and human hubris in dominating nature provides a lot of social commentary in this picture directed by Jorge Grau but it doesn't get in the way of some really impressive zombies and their devouring hunger for human flesh. The whole look and sound design is really impressive and only heightens the horror. No matter what you call this zombie movie just know it is worth watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Nacho M "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" (US Title) "The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue" (UK Title) This little gem is honestly one of the best zombie movies of all time. Sure, Romero's "Night Of The Living Dead" will forever reign as the #1 greatest zombie movie ever. And although there have been hundreds of zombie movies made since then, "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" is definitely a close contender, if not the runner up. Over the years, my obsession & love for horror has dulled my fright senses, and I very rarely even cringe anymore. But, this British zombie movie definitely has a huge cringe factor along with a few carefully choreographed jump scares, and a great storyline that will bring you back to watch it again and again. But, may I suggest that if you decide to purchase this for your collection, do your research first. There are 2 different titles, as there are 2 different cuts of the film. Scenes were cut & edited for both American & British audiences, and they are different lengths as well. My wish would be for a complete uncut definitive edition to be released. So, pick up a copy, pop some corn and prepare for some classic scares. Then, spread the word to all your zombie loving friends to watch as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review B P A film steeped in mood and atmosphere; grim and unsettling. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/24 Full Review Serge C Greatly shot especially gorgeous UK countryside. Dated, but solid story & goretastic living dead. 🍿🍿1/2 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
