"Not Okay" follows Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch), an aimless aspiring writer with no friends, no romantic prospects and -- worst of all -- no followers, who fakes an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in the hopes of boosting her social media clout. When a terrifying incident strikes the City of Lights, Danni unwittingly falls into a lie bigger than she ever imagined. She "returns" a hero, even striking up an unlikely friendship with Rowan (Mia Isaac), a school-shooting survivor dedicated to societal change, and scooping up the man of her dreams, Colin (Dylan O'Brien). As an influencer and advocate, Danni finally has the life and audience she always wanted. But it's only a matter of time before the façade cracks, and she learns the hard way that the Internet loves a takedown.

Candice Frederick HuffPost As deft as “Not Okay” is for realizing the virtually vampiric nature of how trauma is absorbed in today’s culture, it completely avoids engaging with the role race plays. Dec 16, 2022 Full Review Dylan Roth Observer Not Okay is an unflinching look at not just the superficiality of influencer culture but the ghastly commodification of trauma and tragedy that raises awareness but rarely actually helps anyone. Dec 14, 2022 Full Review Caroline Siede Fox 10 Phoenix The appreciable audacity of what [writer/director Quinn] Shephard is trying to do coupled with the stellar work of a uniformly great cast make this off-beat satire worth a "like and subscribe." Rated: 6/10 Jul 19, 2024 Full Review Paul Klein FILMHOUNDS Magazine Not only is the chemistry between Deutch and Isaac brilliant but you do get the sense that there is something stirring within Danni. Rated: 4/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Nadine Whitney Mr. Movie's Film Blog Mia Isaac, as Rowan is spectacular, and if the narrative centered itself around her more, then Shepard’s film would have sharper teeth. Al J A dislikable main character in a dislikable world. What a waste of my time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Audience Member Too much wannabe, trying too hard to be something. Meh plot , none realistic situation or character. No character development. Ending has no point. No forgiveness ,just pure hatred. You want to tell that internet harassment is Okay? I give you one "your movie is s*cks" Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/24 Full Review Michael S I LOVED this film!!! A MUST WATCH!!! Quinn Shephard rocks the film world with her smart, funny stylish film making!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review MICHAEL S I Loved this movie!!! Very smart and funny!!! Quinn Shephard is the best and sharpest film maker of this generation! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Daniel G Unlike some viewers, I had no laughs, but the situation was treated with earnestness and the ending was above average. At times conventional, some really shallow characters, but the main ones were very dedicated to the theme, which is not easy to pull through. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review chitown2bayarea Good movie! Well acted, good plot, and not so typical ending. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews
