There's nothing good in Nothing But Trouble, a grotesque comedy that is more likely to make audiences ill than make them laugh.

Jay Boyar Orlando Sentinel For the most part, however, the humor depends upon the audience's finding the movie's repulsiveness funny. Rated: 1/5 Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Peter Rainer Los Angeles Times Occasionally, the talents of the cast burn through the haze of misfires and remembered routines. [Full review in Spanish] Jan 20, 2023 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal A calamity by most objective measures. At best a paltry comedy. And yet ... AND YET ... the relentlessly repugnant energy here ceases to desist while you're watching and continues to persist long after you've stopped. A perversely fascinating bomb. Hughe J Nothing But Trouble was released in 1991 and stars Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, John Candy and Demi Moore with Aykroyd directing. The film is set in the small fictional town of Valkenvania where the protagonists are stopped for a traffic violation and brought before the local judge. Aykroyd plays the judge wearing tons of makeup and imprisons the defendants in his haunted mansion style home that is somehow equipped with slides and booby traps; he also occasionally kills defendants. They eventually escape and notify the police but they're in on it too but fortunately the town explodes or something and everyone escapes. Honestly, this is billed as a horror/comedy movie but I didn't see either. I didn't even smile watching this but just felt sad for some of my favorite actors at the time. Nothing But Trouble was nothing but awful and is one of the worst movies I have ever watched. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/25 Full Review Garrett P. Batshit insane, and unfortunately unwatchable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/16/25 Full Review Nick O Classic Saturday Night Live meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/22/25 Full Review This Old G Honestly I don't have words to describe how awful this movie is. It's repulsive and just downright unwatchable despite the cast. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Kerby R I have watched this movie several times and it is STILL HILARIOUS. Dan Aykroyd did a great job as the judge, and John Candy did great in his double role. The plot has many nice twists. The music is also good (with Tupac Shakur). Not sure why the critics panned it. It is great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Brad S. R Not quite the catastrophic failure it's made out to be, but not exactly good, either. It certainly beats Ishtar.
