Audience Member Great Russian science fiction film!in same rang with Usa Movies!Heavy Dialog, very deep and complex .. SPEED,ACTION.. 10 / 10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a mess of a movie but it's a beautiful & exciting mess! Unfortunately, for the international version they combines parts 1 & 2 and cut 65 minutes out of them. With a running time of two & a half hours, and as confusing as it is, the movie would probably benefit quite a bit from all those missing scenes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Good sci-fi. Those looking for budgets as big as Star Wars, the new Trek, or Avatar might not be pleased. However, as an openminded sci-fi fan, I was impressed by this film and its sequel. I'd like to read the books now. I actually liked the second one more than the first, but it might be because the second part had better subtitles. Spoilers: The fights and action were good. The acting was solid. I was amazed how well the actor who was Maksim played his part. Good film, if a bit confusing at times. Rudolph is a bad mutha! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Fyodur Bondarchuk's conclusion to The Inhabited Island is a science fiction thriller with some features to be proud of.
This film being the second part of the Strugatsky brother's novel, makes viewing the first installment a requirement. There is a brief rundown of the story in the beginning of this picture, but it is not a substitute for the first film. It is more of a refresher.

The futuristic story contains plot holes, as there is not enough explanations for a number of elements throughout the 1 hour 40 minute picture. That isn't to say that the story is hard to follow. It just takes some effort, which can be frustrating.

There isn't anything out of the ballpark when it comes to the action. The explosive tank sequence looks good visually, while the hand to hand combat isn't too bad either.

Vasily Stepanov's cheerful disposition is a mixed bag. It brings confidence to the character; however there are times where it makes it difficult to take his character seriously. The rest of the supporting cast pass the test.

The Inhabited Island: Skirmish does bring closure to the story and while there is room for improvement, there is a bit of an epic feel to it all.
Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Great continuation of the previous film! A sci-fi with lots of wisdom and meaning. It is an allegory of the world we live in today, and the power relationship that exists today between government and the masses. Not just in Russia, but in USA and other parts of the world as well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a mess of a movie but it's a beautiful & exciting mess!
