You can't rate Office Christmas Party as if it is a regular film. It's a xmas movie and should be judged as such. Is it in the league of other xmas comedies like Elf? No. Is it better than most of the cliche garbage out there? Absolutely. It's fun, entertaining, and actually has a plot that keeps you along for the ride.

Just rewatched this and it still holds up as a laugh out loud blast! I honestly don’t get why it got panned so hard. The performances are great, so many hilarious moments and scenes, and sure the script isn’t Oscar worthy but it actually does a nice job building in callbacks and bringing the characters together in a satisfying way. If you’re on the fence don’t let the low scores deter you, this is definitely worth your time if you’re looking for a solid a holiday comedy.
