Jose G This Technicolor Doris Day musical/comedy is a sweet nostalgic trip to the early 20th century that charms with its period songs and amusing look at the customs, fashions, home furnishings, transportation, etc. of a bygone era. The comparisons to 1944's classic "Meet Me in St. Louis" are inevitable, but this film holds it's own as a diverting hour and a half visit to a simpler time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/30/23 Full Review Liam D Doris Day makes the movie so happy and lighthearted to have a good time with the movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/23/21 Full Review Paula O This movie is the worst kind of cliche storytelling and preventable hijinks. The kid brother is unbearable and never learns any lessons. Although Doris Day and Gordon MacRae have great singing voices, the plot is awful and the kid brother makes things even worse than they already are. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/20 Full Review Audience Member Not my favorite musical film, but Doris Day is a pleasure to watch on-screen. (First and only viewing - 7/15/2019) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review joe m "On Moonlight Bay" is one of the better nostalgic and corny yet nice rom-com harkening back to pre-WW I via the 1950's musical. Day is endearing as the tomboyish 'teenager' Margery (?) who falls for the radical yet rather stuffy MacRae as Bill. The tunes are hummable if not very memorable. Most of the film is carried by the supporting cast especially by Ames as Day's banker father, Gray as her rascally younger brother and, best of all, the always acerbic Wickes. Worth catching at least once. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The best musical movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
