Three small girls are left without a home after their father, Stevie (Anthony LaPaglia), is killed in the line of duty. His partner, Artie (Michael Keaton), and his wife (Rene Russo) choose to adopt the children, but the government thinks their living quarters are too cramped for a family. Without enough money for a down payment on a house, Artie robs drug lord Beniamino Rios (Tony Plana). Little does Artie know, that Beniamino's girlfriend (Rachel Ticotin) may have the means to take him down.

One Good Cop hasn't aged well especially in today's climate. There are decent performances from Rene Russo and Michael Keaton. Starts off as decent buddy cop comedy, but with the death of one of them on the job, it delves into a manipulative melodrama. The conclusion now feels the opposite of "feel good" by portraying problematic law enforcement behaviour.

The drama is good, but becomes complicated in the middle of the plot and perhaps a bit too much action verging on cheesy. But, Keaton and Russo do well. Later in the '90s spawned even worse stories.
