David B @Rayskins Feb 27 This is definitely worth the watch. It is a great movie with a terrific storyline. The acting is great. Ryan Philippe does a great job playing the hero and C. Thomas Howell plays a great villain. I love the twist at the end. Looking forward to seeing chapter 2. See more Joseph B. @RT16134486 Feb 26 Worth the watch… but… Ryan Phillippe does a great job playing the humble father. Plot: nothing really unpredictable. Feel good underdog- revenge- root for the good guys narrative arc. The writing for Part One raises a few questions. I wonder if the writers could have developed Phillippe’s character? For example, his military background and training. His character is likable and more depth would easily transform into a present day “Harry Bosch” type. His daughter, Amélie Hoeferle, also shows so much potential when given the lines to speak and more of a performance to perform rather than the first third of the film where she plays the obstinate stereotypical teenage daughter who is glued to her phone and earbuds. Again: more dialogue, here, may have helped to strengthen the viewer’s connection with the characters and hit the viewers closer to home on the heartstrings. Lastly, the villains. The concept was there but a little deeper development like “True Detective” season one development of the bad guys may have easily taken this movie to award winning. Instead, here, we are left with more of a cookie cutter “Taken.” Not sure what the budget was but for 90 minutes… it seemed forced at times and rather vanilla. I’m hoping Chapter Two raises the game. Again, worth the watch, and with the correct writing and budget this could evolve into a Jack Ryan or Bosch type of series. Happy viewing. Ryan Phillippe delivers one of the most grounded and intense performances of his career as a father pushed to his absolute breaking point. What makes this film stand out is its restraint; it doesn't rely on mindless action, but instead builds a thick, suffocating sense of dread as the protagonist's daughter is taken by a mysterious, cult-like community. The cinematography captures the isolation of the setting beautifully, making every mile feel like an eternity. It’s an emotional, slow-burn pressure cooker that leaves you breathless by the time the credits roll. If you’re looking for a thriller with brains, heart, and legitimate stakes, this is it. I'm diving into Chapter Two immediately!". NICE WORK RYAN! See more Who K @WhoKnew22 Feb 25 Its an average drama thriller Ryan Philippe is carrying the film and C Thomas Howell hams it up but its sagged down by the pedestrian script also should be release as a one of film instead of stretching it to 3 hrs See more Downriver R @Downriver Feb 22 Epic movie. Some of the action scenes in this are just outstanding. Best action movie I've seen in quite some time. Reminds me of taken with Liam Neeson. I like those one a little more though. See more Leo M @Leonardoms Feb 21 Chapter One of One Mile sets a powerful emotional tone right from the start. The pacing feels intentional and reflective, drawing you into the protagonist’s inner world before the external conflict fully unfolds. What stands out most is the subtle tension — you can sense that the "mile" is more symbolic than physical, hinting at personal limits, regret, or transformation. See more Read all reviews
