After a rare gem is stolen from an exhibition at a posh hotel, Inspector Farraday (Richard Lane) decides to recruit former thief Boston Blackie (Chester Morris) to find the stone. Along with his assistant, "the Runt" (George E. Stone), Blackie focuses his investigation on the hotel manager, George Daley (Robert E. Scott), and his sister, Eileen (Dorothy Malone). Through disguises and ruses, Blackie and the Runt try to trick their way to discovering the thieves.

nick s Cute detective style movie. The story beats are improbable and are perhaps more suitable to a stage play. Replete with comedic splashes that would appeal to a 1940s audience.
