Mike McCahill Guardian We're left with all the lowish-octane thrills that follow from watching a man ticking items off his to-do list, and Kaosayananda makes such a deathly plod of it that vast stretches appear to be proceeding in real time. Rated: 2/5 Aug 28, 2020 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com One Night in Bangkok fatally stalls whenever Kaosayananda has to develop his hitman drama beyond place-holding cliches. Rated: 1/4 Aug 25, 2020 Full Review Johnny Loftus Decider Stream it for Mark Dacascos, who deserves a leading man role, even if it's in this vague, unconvincing noir. Dec 10, 2020 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix What's left are a lot of bloody scenes, characters that people won't care about, and viewers' sinking feeling that they could've spent 105 minutes of their time in a much better way than watching this boring dreck. Sep 14, 2020 Full Review Justin Harrison The Spool Unfortunately, the rest of the film does not measure up to its star's performance. Sep 3, 2020 Full Review Allison Rose FlickDirect Dacascos does a terrific job portraying Kai; a peaceful, gentle man who calculates and plans his vigilante justice against those whom he feels have wronged him and his family. Maggie H This director has clearly never heard the rule “do the fast bits slow and the slow bits fast” - the pacing on this movie is completely off, meaning zero satisfaction gained from the vigilante justice the audience should be enjoying. Leading man Mark Dacascos is the only worthwhile piece of the puzzle but unfortunately completely let down by horrendous cast (are any of these actors actually Thai? Has a single one of them ever taken acting classes?), criminally bad dialogue, awkward performances, and amateur special effects makeup. American accents abound. And she’s driving a Volvo? Has anyone involved in writing this movie actually been to Thailand? Yikes. Practically everything about this movie is badly done. I got so bored by the second half, I spent it scrolling through reviews to see if there was some kind of mass delusion going on and it was just me who found it this awful (like reading reviews for The Beekeeper…are you people on acid?). Alas, everyone seems to agree: Mark Dacascos = good. This movie = bad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/09/24 Full Review Hawinet D. K It's been decades since I watched movies like this and I missed it so much😭😭 so wonderful Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review DanTheMan 2 Despite an absolutely gripping lead performance from Mark Dacascos the rest of One Night in Bangkok doesn't measure up with all the low-octane thrills that follow from watching a man ticking items off his to-do list. Given that director Wych "Kaos" Kaosayananda helmed the mouthful of a title that is Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, I was optimistic to see what he could do without a studio taking creative control away from him, needless to say that this film is certainly a step in the right direction. Even with all the vibes of Collateral, One Night in Bangkok, unfortunately, doesn't land. Awful pacing, nauseating music and fatally stalling whenever Kaos has to develop his hitman drama beyond place-holding cliches. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/05/24 Full Review A.L.Jude P This was a good effort to make a hitman movie. Could have been much better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review William R. P Total copy of Collateral with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review T T Although it's a cliche, but I really wish I could give this movie a zero, not just the minimum half star. Zeros for each category, horrible: story, script, plot, acting, dialogue, and action scenes. The worst and most boring revenge movie I have seen, so far.
