Critics Consensus

Cheap-looking and tonally confused, One True Loves wastes an interesting premise on a romantic comedy that largely lacks love and laughs.

Phil Hoad Guardian There is little payoff, with Fickman running shy of the full-blooded commitment to make his film a proper weepie and instead constantly reverting to sassy, annoyingly self-aware comedy that makes light of everything. Rated: 2/5 May 2, 2023 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times The movie has the general shape of a comedy, but any laughs are largely unintentional. Apr 24, 2023 Full Review Brandon Yu New York Times Stumbles even as a piece of Hallmark sappiness. Apr 13, 2023 Full Review Clotilde Chinnici Loud and Clear Reviews Despite some good acting, One True Loves does not feel believable: the complexities of the situation and nuances of the characters are lost in a mediocre script with a conflict that ends up feeling artificial and forced Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 14, 2024 Full Review Jericho Tadeo The Asian Cut One Trues Loves tries — perhaps too hard — to be a timeless love story, but where nuance is needed to pull audiences in, it instead chooses melodrama. Rated: 4/10 Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Avaryl Halley Movie Bitches I liked the cast, it was silly and weird and lonely slightly bizarre but also kinda sweet…it was so close to being great Rated: B- Apr 24, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Hope the book is always better! I love the movie, but not as much as I thought I would. the scenes were great BUT the dialogs weren't there. I think the movie also moved too fast! but overall I loved it! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review em phillipa soo was SO good!!! she’s incredible in every role that she plays and she brought emma to life in such a beautiful way :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/23 Full Review Movielover123 The movie does not make justice to the book. Overall, a really bad movie. There is no chimestry between the leads and the characters do not propertly portrait the description within the book. Hated Sam throught the whole, totally ruins what is expected form the book. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/12/24 Full Review Naima H Something was off idk what it is exactly but something's wrong. Is it the acting? (could be) The production? ( obviously) the writing? (it wasn't terrible but there was some things that wouldn't make sense.) Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Cassi T Not a fan. Not a good movie at all. Very disappointed in the 90+ minutes I wasted. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Jessica S This movie is terrible and rushed. It does not follow the book at all. The cast does not match the book descriptions of the characters and the plot does not even make sense. The quick flipping back and forth of timelines is terrible.
