Tom Keogh Seattle Times This 2015 Chinese remake about real and perceived destinies mostly challenges one's patience. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 23, 2015 Full Review Andy Webster New York Times "Only You" is served very well by Ms. Tang (a star of Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution"). Whether playing elated, sorrowful, coy or petulant, she consistently provides the spark the movie could use more of. Jul 23, 2015 Full Review Radheyan Simonpillai NOW Toronto The romance is built on deceit, implausible coincidences, a lot of sulking and montages that tell us things are going swell. That leaves no room for the two stars to actually charm each other - or us. Rated: 2/5 Jul 23, 2015 Full Review Tan Kee Yun The New Paper (Singapore) Despite being billed as a rom-com, it lacks the charming, whimsical vibe of the 1994 version with Robert Downey Jr and Marisa Tomei. Rated: 2/5 Sep 20, 2017 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru An enchanting romantic drama that would make for a perfect date night. Rated: 7.75/10 Aug 11, 2015 Full Review Chris Knight National Post What the new film lacks in chemistry, it tries to make up for in geography. Rated: 2/4 Jul 23, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Andre G Your typical love story. Girl was told the name of the man she will marry one day by a fortune teller. She believed it and meets a guy who lies and says that is his name. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/07/23 Full Review Audience Member An engaged woman, Fang Yuan, with marital doubts embarks on a journey to Italy, ostensibly to explore, but really to force fit her childhood fantasy of marrying the man of her destiny, named Song Kunming. Keep in mind she has never met Song Kunming, she is only going on the trusted words of no less than two genuine fortune tellers. But real density snuck up behind her and grabbed her when, thinking she is meeting Song Kunming, she instead meets Feng Dali. He is smitten by her but being a bit of a hustler he naturally takes quick advantage of the situation by imposing as Song Kunming in order to, well, get closer to her. Her blind attempts to drive her fate to her desired marital conclusion sets up many hilarious and emotional scenes as she goes first from finding out she's been pranked to later falling in love. Back dropped against a beautiful old European cityscapes and the bucolic countryside there was plenty of charming playful banter as well as lot of flirting and mildly seductive dialog plus disappointments and tears throughout. It was fun to watch their interactions - I liked their chemistry. One scene that I liked was Fang and Feng's playfully silent night-time shadow play against an ancient stone wall. Without the fortuneteller's illusion she would never wriggled out of her engagement to a boring nice-guy and fallen in love with a romantic bad-boy. You cannot completely plan your life - keep your eyes open to new possibilities. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
