Audience Member Ti Lung plays a martial arts master who find out that an opium den has opened up in his old masters school and is ruining the town. That part of the story is fairly routine martial arts revenge story, but there is also an interesting story element around Ti Lung's own addition to opium and how he has to fight to overcome it. The fight sequences are solid thought not spectacular. Overall, this film is a solid piece entertainment, but is nothing all that special. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Another good Lung Ti movie... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Anti-drug martial arts movie with a bit more plot and a bit less action than average (but not a lot less action). Nice change from the usual Hong Kong Cinema fare. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Ti Lung plays a casual opium user and kung fu master, but when his student and village fall prey to supreme opium addiction, he must kick the habit in order to kick some ass. At times the movie is very over-dramatic, with multiple tragedies often happening for no real reason. The final fight is pretty decent, especially when the hero uses some cunning to finally defeat the villains. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Anti-drug martial arts movie with a bit more plot and a bit less action than average (but not a lot less action). Nice change from the usual Hong Kong Cinema fare. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow, alright, so I had issues with this movie early on. It was a kung fu flick about drug addiction, about a town getting overrun with opium, but started out a bit goofy, and stayed lighthearted for a while. I thought it should have been a bit more serious, but I got my wish about 50 minutes in by a mile -- by 100 miles, holy shit. The movie makes a major change as Ti Lung starts to finally realize he needs to kick his habit. Finally once he's ready for his showdown with the great Chen Kuan Tai, they deliver one of the best climactic action scenes I've ever witnessed. Ti Lung just had so much to fight for that my own personal emotional investment was pretty much maxed out. Great fight anyways, and I literally yelled out "OH SHIIITTTTT!" while watching.
