"Oscar Shaw" is concerned about the way of the world, but sincerity is stuck in a largely inert mystery, limiting the potency of its messages as dramatic momentum never takes command of the picture. Go to Full Review

Scott M @skeeterscott 18h Was good good quality acting and believable story See more Diana P @Quinnell 3d Michael Jai White usually shows up to crack skulls, but Oscar Shaw lets him do more than throw hands. He plays Oscar, a former cop trying to stay centered through meditation while his neighborhood heats up—gang pressure, a murdered friend, and a kid who needs protection pulling him back toward the violence he’s trying to leave behind. The script by Don Roff aims for more than standard cops-vs-thugs, focusing on what crime does to a community, not just the body count. It’s a slow-burn vigilante mystery with purpose, and White carries it with real weight: grief, restraint, and simmering intensity. When the film finally leans into danger—clubs, hideouts, rescues—it delivers a satisfying jolt of action without losing its point. Not every twist surprises, but the bigger takeaway lands: Oscar Shaw has something to say, and White proves he can do more than just hit hard.
