      Critics Consensus

Though it features some extravagant and entertaining moments, The Other Boleyn Girl feels more like a soap opera than historical drama.

EllaJo r This movie was disturbing 😳 and didn't seem believable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Sasha C Do not bother with this film if you enjoyed the book. The casting and acting of Henry was wildly wrong - literarily as well as historically - and even the set up to the affairs was appalling. If you want to watch a crap film about the Tudors then go for it… but if you came for a film adaptation of a wonderful book, seriously don't bother. I have just finished reading the book and I am appalled. 1.5 stars because I love Benedict Cumberbatch and the costumes were good. EDIT: have just finished it and i revoke it to half a star because even the costumes stopped being true and this whole film is ridiculous if supposedly a book adaptation. Scarlett's accent is awful and whoever cast Henry VIII should be fired. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/23 Full Review Alexsander F Filme espetacular apesar de ser bem resumido. Mas muito emocionante. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/23 Full Review Brigade M Jane Seymour produced a male heir, cleaned up the mess Anne Boleyn made; yet the master manipulator is the most popular of the 6. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/04/23 Full Review hamid reza g The subject of the film and Henry VIII's marriage has been the subject of many films and series. This movie is smooth in telling the story and it does it well. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/23 Full Review Profesora A My favorite movie.. I recommend it!!! Kevin Maher Times (UK) A hoot. Rated: 4/5 Apr 9, 2021 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator This is cliché heaped on cliché and hopelessly artificial. Aug 23, 2018 Full Review David Ansen Newsweek ... loses steam when the catfighting abruptly gives way to grim realpolitik. Feb 1, 2018 Full Review Martin Tsai New York Sun The film is marginally enjoyable in that sort of sleazy Jerry Springer fashion, but the filmmakers aren’t making a compelling case here for why their artistic license is necessarily more amusing or insightful than history itself.
