Wendy Ide Observer (UK) With its theatrical approach, fascinating archive material and numerous dance sequences, this is a treat for tango fans. Rated: 3/5 Sep 24, 2017 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) Your enjoyment will be in direct proportion to how much you appreciate seemingly endless amounts of quality tango. Me, not so much. Rated: 2/5 Sep 22, 2017 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian [A] very warm and thoroughly watchable documentary ... Rated: 4/5 Sep 21, 2017 Full Review Katie Smith-Wong Flick Feast Combined with key memories re-enacted through a group of dancers, the tango sequences are mesmerising and beautifully choreographed, bringing a stylised grace that is both unique and technical at the same time. Rated: 3/5 Nov 12, 2019 Full Review Molly Templeton Eugene Weekly (OR) But if nothing else, both of them demonstrate that being an octogenarian is no excuse for sitting still. If we start now, perhaps we'll be dancing into our 80s as well. Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Tom Charity Cinema Scope We all know it takes two to tango, and that's a problem for this mildly engaging but lop-sided strut down memory lane with Maria Nieves Rego and Juan Carlos Copes. Audience Member wonderful movie about tango, very moving love story, unforgettable music, unusual scenario and authenticity, honesty... I did not want it to finish! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review margrit b I loved it. It was dreamy, romantic, poiignant, nostalgic. I Loved the music and the dancing and the way time flitted back and forth. But it maybe just for the few of us who can be carried away by the dance. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A highly enjoyable telling of the 60-year love/hate story of María Nieves Rego and Juan Carlos Copas, the most famous tango dancers in Argentina. It is illustrated / reconstructed through tangos which are thrillingly staged and beautifully shot and, instead of just talking heads, it makes interesting use of the dancers as interlocutors. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member this documentary is amazing! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Fans and admirers of tango may find this documentary satisfying - and it offers some beautiful dance shots for their pleasure -, but it disappoints with a manipulative direction that feels so artificial in the way the film is shot (and edited) to provoke specific emotions in the viewers.
