Neil Genzlinger New York Times There's nothing like hearing a harrowing tale from the people who lived it. May 14, 2015 Full Review Kyle Ryan AV Club For people with a limited understanding of the Iranian Revolution, Our Man In Tehran offers an easily digestible history lesson. Rated: B May 14, 2015 Full Review Simon Abrams Village Voice Informative but tedious ... for anyone who watched Argo and then wished to hear a ditzy, history-obsessed uncle ramble about the real-life political stakes of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis. May 12, 2015 Full Review Joe Bendel Epoch Times Taylor and Weinstein give the audience a detailed understanding of the rituals of diplomacy and the secret inner workings of the intelligence services. Rated: 3.5/5 May 22, 2016 Full Review Robert Horton HeraldNet (Everett, WA) The story's a good one (already familiar if you saw Argo), and it's interesting to see the real-life versions of characters portrayed by Ben Affleck, etc. Rated: 3/4 Jul 31, 2015 Full Review Brent Simon Paste Magazine Luxuriating in the sort of complexity that streamlined films have a difficult time fitting into the confines of a cathartic narrative, Our Man in Tehran is a worthwhile complementary piece to Argo. Joanne G Brilliant overview of Tehran, prior and during the American hostage taking, told by Canadian international correspondence, the six Americans hidden in the Canadian Embassy, the Canadian government and the brave Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor and others in the Canadian Embassy! Also, the other hostages who were captured and remained imprisoned for 444 days. those who were hidden in The Canadian Embassy, the brave Ambassador Ken Taylor and the Canadian government Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Supplement to Argo --tells the story of the Canadian's bravery in rescuing the 6 AMerican hostages, what really happened in Iran with the fall of the Shah and the rise of Ayatollah Khomeni, and in general, just how badly the Americans are --whether its their intelligence gathering, or in their rescue effort (getting the VISA wrong?? Lol) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member good companion or dbl feature with, u know, 'Argo" Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I am fascinated by the Iranian hostage crisis of 1979, and so I found this documentary gripping. Great stuff! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I felt Argo kind of flat despite the interesting subject matter. (I guess I just like character development, historical accuracy & don't get fooled by flash). This documentary fully explains and corrects some errors made by the Hollywood film about 'The Canadian Caper'. Either way I enjoyed hearing this event depicted by people from every side of the story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Have you heard of Argo? Now see what really happened. :-) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
