Critics Consensus

While it might prove somewhat satisfying for devout sci-fi fans, Pandorum's bloated, derivative plot ultimately leaves it drifting in space.

Keith Uhlich Time Out As the credit "Produced by Paul W.S. Anderson" attests, this is hackwork of the highest order. Rated: 1/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Perri Nemiroff CinemaBlend It takes a brilliant concept and stellar performances and buries them in banality and mediocre scares. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 12, 2010 Full Review Kim Newman Empire Magazine Pandorum is a hodge-podge of familiar sci-fi stuff, which feels as if it were adapted from a computer game. Rated: 2/5 Oct 4, 2009 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review It wants to transcend several genres at once, and by doing so become something original. Except it doesn’t realize these many goals, nor does it accomplish maybe just one or two. Rated: 2/4 Aug 30, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand It’s basically a zombie movie set-up on an industrial spaceship, a fast-moving B-movie that throws out lots of theories that don’t stand up to the light of reason and then moves on to the next chase and feeding frenzy by the mutant hordes. Jakob F A (generally) gripping experience that starts on very strong footing by fixating on body horror and the vacuum of orienting information but which proverbially peaks in high school via showing far too much far too fast, nevertheless painstakingly nailing the aesthetics of a derelict spacecraft horror while casually fumbling character dynamics through its largely ambling plot. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review do h It's a total Schas. Schaaas! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Ron K The vibe and the soundtracks of this movie are amazing, a real must see Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Bob D Ignore the critics most of them probably can't dress themselves in the morning let alone understand this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/14/24 Full Review Kyle D I'm shocked by the low ratings this film has received. Granted, I'm a devout science-fiction fan, but... This was a compelling movie. Great set design and costumes, terrific action with good pacing. There's a mystery broken up by bouts of violence. It's equal parts thriller, sci-fi horror, and--as stated--mystery. Not to mention the added bonus of adult language and scenarios courtesy of the R rating. What do these people want? Is it the finest? Nope. But, I'd re-watch "Pandorum" before I would Alien Resurrection, and I'm a diehard Alien franchise fan over and before my devotion to the genre. Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster, with an odd showing up of Cam Gigandet. All yes. Watch it. If you're disappointed, turn it off. But definitely ignore the pedantic reviews of the jaded lot of purported "critics". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Sparky K This is a brilliant film! So tense I kept forgetting to breathe. With a great ending too. Why doesn’t everyone love this film? Ignore all the negativity and just watch it!
