Critics Consensus

Passion Play has a terrific cast, but don't be fooled - the only real question at the heart of this misbegotten mystery is what its stars were thinking.

Jonathan N Spoilers: Go, er, uh, watch this (if you feel you must) before reading my review, as it does contain spoilers. Right here is a move that doesn't try too hard... in fact, it didn't try very hard at all! OK, OK, the movie isn't great cinema. I can't argue with the other negative reviews. By the way, Megan Fox could never carry Mr. Mickey Fatass anywhere... Whatever. Skip this trash. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/26/25 Full Review Stephen C Unsuccessful in 1 hour and 34 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Sam G I had to look up the name of this movie recently because I’ve been asked my top 5 worst movies of all time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Despite the neg critics, I find this movie a lovely fantasy. Rourke a wasted musician who betrayed his boss, is represented as a lost soul , wandering between two worlds and looking for redemption. He always took care of hymself first, but in that last scene when he jumped, and the angel(Lily) took him with his arms and wings . With his sacrifice , Nate won heaven. When he saw his death body in the dessert then he understood, he was dead and Lily was an Angel, No matter what you are in life , there is alwys hope and a way for forgiveness and redemption. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The film is a commentary on lost souls and superficial beauty that belies the greater beauty within. Fox plays an innocent lost to fhe woes of a cold, heartless world, something the heartless critics can identify with. But it is only a fallen artist, one who's lost his ability to call on the beauty of the muse that once filled his soul, who sets her free. He comes alive once again as his angle reminds him of the passion he had once within. And it's in the saving that not only turns his world right side up but fully transforms the beauty of the inner angel to her fullest form. A story of struggle, lost hope and then that hope and passion reborn by two fallen angels who sore together in the end Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review steve d as surprised as I was that Fox was so effective, I was equally surprise how little works in this hodgepodge of ideas.
