Cath Clarke Guardian A topcoat of enforced lyricism creates an emotional soft-focus that is unsatisfying and unconvincing. Rated: 2/5 Mar 4, 2011 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard It is slow-paced, a bit overlong but almost lovingly sympathetic, as if some people's histories have a lot to tell us that we don't know. Rated: 3/5 Mar 4, 2011 Full Review Adam Woodward Little White Lies If previous features My Little Eye, Trauma and Snow Cake belied Evans' filmmaking voice, Patagonia is a loudhailer that announces the Carmarthen son as one of British cinema's most promising talents. Rated: 4/5 Mar 3, 2011 Full Review Matthew Turner ViewLondon Rated: 3/5 Mar 5, 2011 Full Review David Edwards Daily Mirror (UK) Now here's a curio - a film that flits between Wales and Argentina and features a small turn from songstress Duffy. And it's a complete gem. Rated: 4/5 Mar 4, 2011 Full Review David Parkinson Radio Times Evans makes fine use of cinematographer Robbie Ryan's contrasting images of the parched pampas and lush valleys, while Lubos's odyssey ends on a poignant note and the insights into identity and belonging are astute. Audience Member An absolutely beautiful little film set in two very different but connected locations. Wonderful scenery. Characters who are both lovable and annoying. In the end I felt the world was both a bigger and a smaller place. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful Welsh/Argentine landscapes and an enjoyable film but the relationship between Rhys and Gwen was unconvincing. Highlights were always interactions between Alejandro and Cerys Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a hard sell, but this Welsh/Argentinian co-production, shot on location in both countries and featuring two very separate stories (though both about home and how we mythologise "belonging") is a beguiling, deeply moving and superbly acted film. Stunningly photographed with a great soundtrack, this is an overlooked gem. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful, beautiful, spectacular landscapes and culturally rich settings, only to be let down quite badly by its formulaic and highly predictable storyline. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Delightful, Spectacular and Tenderly sensitive. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
