Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express There's enough that's enjoyable in the film. The writing is smart, the lines are life-like, the characters feel right. The supporting cast is especially good, keeping things moving when the rest threaten to stop in their tracks. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 3, 2019 Full Review Itrath Syed Georgia Straight It doesn't quite pull it off. Jul 4, 2016 Full Review Simon Foster sbs.com.au The use of clichd slow-mo, alternating with a quick-cut shallowness, is as far from the essence of [cricket] as one could possibly get, and echoes the hollow emotions that dominate the rest of Patiala House. r 9 Good stuff. I had an enjoyable time watching 'Patiala House'. It mixes sports, drama and comedy to create a strong film. The acting talent do their jobs nicely, while the score and camera work is also done to a noteworthy level. Rishi Kapoor is excellent as Gurtej, bringing all the necessary attributes that's needed to play the stern and bossy character. Akshay Kumar is terrific in the lead role, giving a performance that makes you really care for Parghat. Dimple Kapadia (Mrs. Kahlon) and Anushka Sharma (Simran) are decent, also. As noted at the top, the film connects all the differing parts together well. Sure there are some moments where the humour feels forced, or the drama is overdone, but by and large it's very good. The film also could've been shorter, though that doesn't stop this from leaving positive impressions. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review abhishek s Great ensemble of actors!
