In old Johannesburg, South Africa, an old man takes his life savings of 40 pounds to his church. While he and the priest (Jonathan Mzamo) are praying for guidance on how best to use the money, a determined thief (Tommy Ramokgopa) makes off with it. The old man, the priest, various outraged neighborhood people and, eventually, the police give chase. The thief, delighted by his own boldness, dashes through the streets -- first hiding the loot, then losing it in an attempt to make the most of it.
