After their father (Jan Willem Hees) dies, two middle-aged brothers -- Hein (Bram van der Vlugt), a dependable stockbroker who was given the family business, and Simon (Gerard Thoolen), the homosexual artist who was estranged from his father for years -- must reconcile their differences in order to bury him according to his wishes. They take the body on a sled into the far north to lay him to rest. On the way they encounter danger from the elements and their own resentment toward one another.
