Gerard Thoolen
Gerard Thoolen was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Thoolen began his acting career appearing in various films, such as "Opname" (1979), "De Smaak Van Water" (1982) and the comedy "De Lift" (1983) with Huub Stapel. He also appeared in "De Mannetjesmaker" (1983), "De Ijssalon" (1985) and "De Illusionist" (1985). His film career continued throughout the eighties in productions like "Het Bittere Kruid" (1985), "Pervola" (1985) and the Mirijam Sternheim drama "Van geluk gesproken" (1987). He also appeared in "A Zed and Two Noughts" (1988) and the drama "A Dry White Season" (1989) with Donald Sutherland. Toward the end of his career, he continued to act in the drama "Mijn Vader Woont in Rio" (1989) with Geert deJong, the drama "Die Provincie" (1991) with Thom Hoffman and "How To Survive a Broken Heart" (1991). He also appeared in the John Gielgud dramatic adaptation "Prospero's Books" (1991) and "De Zondagsjongen" (1992) with Rik Van Uffelen. Thoolen more recently acted in the Nino Manfredi dramatic fantasy "The Flying Dutchman" (1995).
