Stubborn Capt. Christopher Jones (Spencer Tracy) pilots the historically famous Mayflower on its maiden voyage across the storm-swept Atlantic. Thankfully, a resourceful carpenter (Van Johnson) keeps the weather damage in check. Also among the passengers is Dorothy (Gene Tierney), the wife of the religiously zealous leader of the pilgrims. Jones finds himself drawn to Dorothy, despite her unattainable status. Soon a rivalry between his unsavory crew and the prim and proper pilgrims emerges.

A very poignant mov is about the pilgrims and their voyage to the new world. Nothing more. Very plain and simple and nothing noire. Has the plot to be great but doesn't live up to it. Van Johnson's worst rote as an actor of his many great roles.

Plymouth Adventure is a decent film. It is about the trials and tribulations beset the one hundred odd settlers that journey to Virginia in 1620 including unexpectedly arriving in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Spencer Tracy and Van Johnson give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places but still entertaining. Clarence Brown did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and adventure.
